Naturist resorts near Orient

Hi,
I think this forum needs a bit of juicing up! We just returned from a 10-day trip to Orient and stayed at the 3 nearby naturist resorts, Club Fantastico, Jardin D'O and Residence Adam and Eve. I wrote a trip report in the form of a blog here: https://chucknjoni.blogspot.com/2019/12/hi-everyone-we-are-on-our-big-beachtrek.html. After SXM we spent a week in Turks and Caicos with family but you can ignore that part.

Although the strike was depressing, it is mostly history hopefully. So maybe this report will spur some more enthusiasm among fans of Orient Beach!

If not, just wear a wrap or string and it's off in no time.
Excellent idea. A long wrap would do It for me. Just slip it off as I am getting out of the car. That would eliminate the strip show at the chairs.

Go for it, gal! Am sure that you'll give us a nice trip report.smile

Two of my favorite strings were a mesh and a white one that was sheer when wet. Found that out the first time I went in the water just before we got to Alamanda. Too far down to turn around and go back. Just had to tough it out until it dried. The sheer part was only a small triangular piece of fabric in the front about one square inch. I figured that if a Gendarme saw me from a distance, he wouldn't even notice that tiny piece of fabric was completely see through.

I have seen those. Does not leave much to the imagination! The wife's favorite is just an american flag pareo. I've worn a pair of shorts that have a bunch of holes, that are probably a little too see through. We get out there every morning just before sunrise. We have never seen a Gendarme.

The earliest we have seen them is about 8:30 or 9:00 by Pedro's, and only a few times. Back in the old days we would walk the beach naked in the mornings before it got too crowded. I was never brave enough to go naked after about 8:00. Just too many people for me. Although with that micro mini sheer G-string, there isn't much difference. Nothing is left to the imagination, but I think it is legal.

We'll say its legal. Looks good to me. I'm hoping my shorts cover the law also! LOL

Just spoke to a lady who goes to St Martin once a month. Has a business and a home there. She said her car was surrounded by thugs on the road toward Orient Beach and they messed up her car in an attempt to rob them until an older man drove by and told them to let her through. This was just a few days ago. I thought that mess was under control. Anybody have any other knowledge of that situation. Supposed to go in May, but not if that's still going on. This lady was quite traumatized.
Wow that's really disappointing! Hope she wasn't harmed. Was it inside the village security guard area or on the main road? We are staying there in April.

She said it was on a bridge before you get to the Orient Beach area. I'm not cancelling yet because I think it should be under control by April 29, when we arrive. Just wanted input from someone who might know something. She wasn't harmed but she said she feared for her life. I'm very bummed. I even emailed Esmeralda and of course the lady said it's all good, but they are a business so...

Hmm, can't think of a bridge anywhere near Orient? Can anyone else? Seems like it must have been an isolated incident, unless "a days ago" was actually mid-December during the strike when the bridge in Sandy Ground was barricaded.

I don't recall any bridges in that area, either. Sounds more like a robbery attempt, rather than a "protest."

Glad she wasn't harmed, but scary indeed! I've racked my brain trying to think of a bridge or something that resembles one and can't. Yes it does sound like a straight up rob job.

We always took a taxi to Club O, so I never paid attention to the road. I'm glad nobody else has heard anything because if I had to cancel for April my wife and I would be soooooo sad. Thanks for the input. From what you folks are saying, she might have been driving off the beaten path from the airport.
Good post about the various clothing optional accommodations. We are going to SXM in 32 days ( but who's counting? ) And we will be staying the entire time ( 10 days ) at Adam and Eve resort for the first time so I am encouraged by your post. I'll post my own review upon our return.
In regards to a few other topics that came up, the first being about driving and or parking nude to and at Club O ( I still call it Club O even though....well, you know sad). I have driven back and forth to my accommodations many many times in the nude, although more often on the way home from the beach rather than too the beach. Never once a problem. We simply pull into the lot, got out and undressed right there, put our things in the trrunk, and walk to the beach ( both before and after Irma ), a towel or pareo works just fine for getting out of the vehicle upon our return home. When I return to the car it is just too tempting to stay nude and just drive home where, upon arrival, you'll probably need to be a bit more discreet . Sometimes you get some surprised looks from people in the parking lot and over the years have had some fun moments and interactions because of it but that's half the fun right?
As far as the early morning walks go, never had a problem as long as it's early ( done before 8 ) and just in case, carry something to cover if necessary and only for your torso. I have never seen toplessness for women as a problem.
And lastly about the crime issue. I live near NYC and have been going into the city for decades. Bad things happen to people there almost every day. but do I still go? Of course I do! Anything can happen at any time! Planes crash but we still happily get on our flights. I truly hope that the occasional occurence of bad things ,that are the exception rather than the rule, won't dissuade people from visiting SXM and missing out on such a FANTASTIC place. I have been going to SXM for 20 years and have never ever had any issue at all. Just the opposite as we have always met and encountered lovely people and have made long term friends as a result. Don't let the haters win!! Live your life and hope for the best!!! LA VIDA ES UNA!!! One Life, One Love, One Island, SXM!!! heartheartheart
dukeofsands, or anyone else that may know, i see you have stayed at A@E. Do you know if their C/O catamaran cruise is available to book if you are not staying with them? Seems to me i read that someone did day sail with them, while staying elsewhere.

Thanks, In advance!

There really is no "off the beaten path." There is basically one main road around the Island. Down around the Lowlands and Sandy Ground there may be some bridges, but that is nowhere near Orient Beach.

I just pulled up Google Maps and followed the road from the airport to Orient Bay on the northwest side. I found two bridges: The "new" bridge by the airport and the bridge in Sandy Ground. But those are about as far from Orient Beach as one can get. Also, there is a lot of traffic on those roads. I wouldn't think either would be a good spot for a robbery. On the other side of the Island going through Phillipsburg, there is a bridge in Phiilipsburg, but no one takes that route from the airport to Orient.
