Naturist resorts near Orient
I think this forum needs a bit of juicing up! We just returned from a 10-day trip to Orient and stayed at the 3 nearby naturist resorts, Club Fantastico, Jardin D'O and Residence Adam and Eve. I wrote a trip report in the form of a blog here: https://chucknjoni.blogspot.com/2019/12/hi-everyone-we-are-on-our-big-beachtrek.html. After SXM we spent a week in Turks and Caicos with family but you can ignore that part.
Although the strike was depressing, it is mostly history hopefully. So maybe this report will spur some more enthusiasm among fans of Orient Beach!

Sorry, the link is to the first post, you have to go to the "Chucknjoni's Blog" link in the upper left corner to see the rest. Or just click
https://chucknjoni.blogspot.com/
and keep tooling down "More Post's" at the bottom until you get to the beginning. Confusing because the blog lists most recent posts first.

No we had a great time! Actually worked to our benefit as it kept the crowds way down. For sure no problem getting chairs at Club O beach or walk-in dining in Orient Village. Just sad about those not able to get there or not able to catch their planes! What studio are you staying in? We met folks staying right in a studio over Yellow Sub. They said Bikini out front was noisy at night but not Yellow Sub.

Good to hear. Sad to hear about the people struggling to catch their flights and lodgings though. I have heard the units around Yellow Sub were noisy. We stayed with a nice renter named Delphine, just about over Good Morning. It was nice, and very quiet, and the bakery smelled amazing in the am out on the balcony. This year we are staying in the last complex down, just before Club O, trying to get closer to the beach, our orange chairs, and sunrise beach walks. The down side is the walk to the village restaurants. Tough problems huh? LOL

The rental doesn't appear to be huge, but sleeps 6, with 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and 2 pools. I think it was about $170 a night at the time of booking in Sept. The walk would be down the road behind the beach side units and come in the back side of the restaurant village. I've heard it's safe enough, but if it looks sketchy we can always drive. That was the great part about staying in the village, was dinner was just across the street.

Isabelle's studio is across the street from the Village over the real estate offices. It is on the same side of the street as the Yellow Submarine, the bistro, the small store and the excellent pizza place.

The studio has a nice patio/deck that we used for nude sunbathing and outdoor showers. It is not visible from the street, so we had some privacy. It is a French island, after all. While the studio's patio/deck looks over the Village the entrance to the studio is at the rear of the building. At night it was somewhat dark and lonesome, as Isabelle was the first to get her studio up and running. Only a three minute walk to the Village, but coming back after dark, it was a bit spooky at the back of the building. Of course, being part of the French government, the populace is dis-armed, with only the criminals having weapons. And they know it.
We stayed in the Village with a 3 minute walk to any place in the Village and drove to Club O beach in the morning. Got our chairs, got naked, got Bloody Marys from the Perch, then lunch and enjoyed our time in paradise. At first it felt a little strange to be taking my clothes off in public. I was well accustomed to being naked in public, but that was different from taking my clothes off In front of all of those people. Only took a time or two to get used to it, though. Not nearly as good as staying at Club O, but a nice vacation nonetheless.

Christa, If the parking area by Perch Lite is open I think one would be fine undressing there by the car and walking onto the beach. We were staying at a clothing optional place(s) and I even thought about hopping into the car naked there and driving over to the beach. About as close to the old Club O experience as possilble - but wifey frowned on the idea!

Christa, was the entertainment from Yellow Sub ever an issue in that studio? Delphine really is a peach and i would rent from her again and may in the future, but we tried to get within easy walking distance To Club O. We drove to their parking lot every day from the village last year. Getting settled in to our chairs isn't much of an issue, as we are usually one of the first there. We usually just scoop up our stuff and get dressed at the car at the end of the day, shaking the sand out of everything.

dukeofsands: I got used to undressing in front of all of those people, and it was no big deal. Some of the boat people would kinda slow down to watch the show when they saw what I was doing. Men are so predictable. But there weren't that many of them, and I didn't wear much to take off anyway, so it worked out. After the first day or so, I just didn't care.
sxmbeacher: The Submarine wasn't finished when we were there. But we were almost 100 yards away, and I doubt the noise would have been much of a problem. If we were outside on the patio/deck, I imagine we could have heard it, but probably not inside.
With Club O gone, we much prefer staying in the Village, within walking distance of everything and driving to Club O. For our morning walks, we go up to Club O and then back to the north toward Mt. Vernon, or reverse it every other morning. I don't do the morning walks naked, but wear a barely legal WW string (probably really isn't legal) on the bottom and a long top that is easy to take off. We walk down that main street by the Village restaurants and past the Submarine to the beach. When we hit the beach, the top comes off, and I become a mostly naked French girl. My French isn't that good, but I have nailed the look!
Bonne Journée,
Christa

It was so much more convenient walking out your door at Club O and doing the complete down and back.Yes, those were good days. Never imagined it would end the way it did. For the walks from Club O I didn't have to fool with the top, just put the string on, make sure the important parts were mostly covered and head toward Mt. Vernon. After the crackdown on nudity on the non Club O portion, I didn't do the walks naked, but wore a little string that didn't cover much of anything.

Two of my favorite strings were a mesh and a white one that was sheer when wet. Found that out the first time I went in the water just before we got to Alamanda. Too far down to turn around and go back. Just had to tough it out until it dried. The sheer part was only a small triangular piece of fabric in the front about one square inch. I figured that if a Gendarme saw me from a distance, he wouldn't even notice that tiny piece of fabric was completely see through.
