Where to stay in February

I am planning a trip in February 2019 to St. Martin. Where would be a good place to stay that would not break the bank. A place that was close to orient beach would be nice or at least somewhere that allows topless. I am plan on renting a car so we could stay at other parts of the island. Hoping to get some good nude beach time.

Have not been to Haulover in quite a few years. How is it these days. Hoping to get back soon. Any suggestions on where to stay.

Quite a few people on the beach, Doubt if any of them were under 50 though. We stayed in Hollywood and took the bus to Haulover every day. I was planning to rent a car but they started out trying to jerk me around so I cancelled out. Glad I did too because the driving around the Miami area is hard to believe, they drive with one hand maybe on the steering wheel, holding a cell phone on their ear, middle finger in the air, smoking a cigarette and of course one hand on the horn.
Haulover is OK but does not have the ambience of Club O, I hope they get something started before everyone finds somewhere else to go.
I tried to find a place in Cypress Gardens, I sent them 2 emails and wrote a snail mail post asking for a brochure and never heard from anyone. Maybe with Club O closed, so do not have to be nice to customers.

Do you mean Cypress Cove? Maybe you had the wrong place? Anyway, this is their slow time so am sure that they would have lots of rooms available. They mostly work via phone, probably their website person dropped the ball if it was the Cove that you tried to contact. They have a link for a brochure https://www.cypresscoveresort.com/contact-us/ on the Contact page but the website has a lot more info.

Same here.
Christa- am having trouble getting my post to post! It's colored yellow in the list and says Unmoderated post! Anyway, here is what I wrote"

We are down at Haulover now, have been for the last 3 days. It's been windy but great weather otherwise! Low 80's and partly sunny. We have a windscreen so the wind isn't an issue. Light crowds so far, will see today (Sunday). We get there early so no problem finding the perfect spot at water's edge. We brought all our own stuff but they have plenty of pricey equipment rentals, i.e. umbrellas ($10 I think), beach chairs (2 for $15 I think) and shelters ($25). Nice mixed crowd of young and old. Come on down!!

Re-parking, still wise to get there early on weekends, e.g. before 10. Avoid the lines at the kiosks by getting the PayByPhone app on your phone and pay for parking spot in advance, $6. Location = 46253 for the north lot. After entering, go to the left as construction workers are hogging the northern section. The new walkway under the road is very nice, no steps so you can just roll your beach cart to the beach! We bought a foldable wagon at Walmart for $45 and are using that. No good in thick sand but it gets you 90% there!
Duke Can you recommend a place to stay Thinking about going in January

Beachbum,
We stayed at a nearby condo rented by our friends.via VRBO or AirBnB. Could be a reasonable deal if you are staying a week or more. There are some recommendations from SFFB here: https://www.beachesfoundation.org/haulover.html#Lodging
We have not stayed at these places so I can't comment on them, except for Oleta River SP which has a dozen small cabins, sort of like camping. But that's your cheapest, closest bet if you can handle the lack of services. A couple of sleeping bags and a big cooler and you're all set. smile Have heard that the Newport is decent but expensive.
There are lots of motels out near I-95 if you don't mind driving a bit. We have other friends staying in an RV out at C.B. Smith park and they like it. Nasty drive at times though.
Hope that helps.
Chuck
Thanks for the info

Hello Christa,

My first post on OB Forum. I too am traveling to SXM this spring for first visit. I have been to St Barts 4 times but never spent time on St Martin. Grand Saline is my favorite beach in the world but I have always wanted to experience Orient Beach. I am divorced and decided now is the time.......so it will be a solo trip. I would love to get the info in the email you sent to the OP.

Thanks,

Here is a copy of what I sent to him:

Club Fantastico is a clothing optional resort up the hill from the Village. The Alamanda is a nice hotel in the Village. A friend of ours is staying at C'est Fou. It is a bit pricey and is a three bedroom villa with a pool.

VRBO has a bunch of rentals in and around the Village. I no longer have the link to the one where we stayed in June and are booked for again next June. It is reasonably priced. Isabelle Darcheville is the owner. She speaks and writes some English, enough for most communications. Her email is _________. (I will send the email address in a personal message.)

She can send you the link to her studio apartment.

We have used Kenny's car rental for the past eight or nine years. It is locally owned and operated. Pick car up at the airport and drop it off there. Very convenient.

Hope this was helpful,
Christa

EDIT: Evidently you don't have enough posts for me to send you a PM.

Is there any place in the village to buy beer and water? Or that might be open by May? Thanks
Ocean Star and Petit Casino right in the village that should have both, but who needs water if you have beer? bigsmile LOL
