Watching Irma

I am keeping a real close watch on Irma because of our upcoming trip slated for September 9 thru September 16. Last information makes me hopeful that it will go north of the islands but one never knows. We'll be celebrating our 39th anniversary on the 10th and we are hopeful it'll be on Orient beach.

"it" is NOT gone. We've been visiting "our" island for close to 20 years.

"It" is much more than concrete and wood and appliances and furniture. "It" is an idea, a community of like-minded people... and I assure you "it" is not going away anytime soon.

But as much as we love CO, the larger picture is the plight of the residents. Our hearts go out to the people of SXM.

I'm confident that they will rebuild and come out better than ever.

I encourage everyone to keep an eye on https://www.samaritanspurse.org/ for relief efforts. There is no charity with higher integrity.

Also, our home boy Kenny is organizing some sort of support: https://kennychesney.com/news/448917/hurricaneirmamessage - keep an eye on this one too.

The best thing we can do now is pray for the people of SXM and get ready to roll up our sleeves, open our hearts and wallets, and help these great people rebuild their home that they so graciously share with us year after year.

Sad to say but wife found some photos on Facebook of where ClubO used to be. Unrecognisable. Concrete slabs and a few building shells. Nothing left of all the vegetation but stripped palm trees. It looked like a totall loss from those photos

Yes, it's very bad for Club O. Not only are most, if not all of the structures gone or totaled, but the land has been re sculptured. Between all that, ownerships and government involvement it will be interesting what happens there. Praying for a positive outcome for the owners, employees and everyone that calls this place their favorite place on earth!
