Hello
We are new to this forum page and new to St Martin travel. We are excited to be staying at La Playa from Feb 10-16. Any tips or advise for first timers is greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the forum! It all depends on what your interests are. You'll be on Orient Beach, which, in my opinion is the nicest beach on the island! There are various boat trips one can take, sail, motor, clothed or clothing optional, wind surfing, sailboat rental, stand up paddle boarding, snorkeling, diving. There is the Butterfly Farm, Parrote Ville Bird Sanctuary. Lots of really good restaurants. On Tuesday nights in Grand Case there is Harmony Nights (it is called something else now like Mardis Gras...) Some people like to take a day trip to Pinel Island, Anguilla or St. Barth. You may want to consider renting a car to go exploring, but don't leave anything at all in it. My wife and I will be there February 6th through the 23rd. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Thank you The Simpsons
We were thinking about spending some time at the beach at Club Orient and taking a C/O boat tour somewhere. We have discussed St Barts but have read that they trip over can be rough at times and a rough boat ride to have lunch in what we expect will be a tourist trap port just to say we went to St Barts doesn't appeal to us. Other tours we have read, snorkeling and picnic on a nearby island, lazy day in the sun sound appealing. Also have looked at the 'around the island' tour, perhaps a good way to see the island. It is very likely that we will be content to enjoy the beach whether clothed or not. The Tuesday night Grand Case party sounds fun. We are hoping that we will find some nightlife while we are there. Thank you for your informative resonse. Perhaps we will see you there.

The Simpsons gave you a lot of ideas, and you have some good ideas of your own, but be warned that after you get on Orient Beach, especially at Club O Beach, sand gravity may take over, and nothing much gets done. Except lying naked on the beach, of course.
Christa.....
Couldn't agree more. Looking forward to four weeks at Club O beginning November 14 and counting on lots of sand gravity. Except of course at 2:30 when we must drag ourselves over to Perch!

We will be there on the 17th-23rd. Maybe we will see ya'll there, have a drink or something
Thank you for all of your advise. We agree, because it has happened to us before, naked in the sun and the sand gravity is a real issue....well not really, because it is suppose to be a vacation after all and what better way to recharge!

@ joed1949 - What happens at 2:30 at the Perch?

230 is happy hour.
Thank you mrcroz - 2:30 at the Perch - we'll be there!!

In my opinion, Perch has the best happy hour drinks anywhere on the planet and they're reasonably priced. Willie is also the world's best bartender. I wasn't a fan of slushy drinks before I discovered the ones at Perch. Now I don't mind standing in line for a half hour to get ours. Great place to meet fellow guests as well.
The Perch sounds like a fun place to be and we have heard really good things about Willie. I don't mind standing in line at a nude bar either as long as there are other nude, happy, interesting, party people to talk to. Some of our best friends we have met at nude bars!

That''s part of the fun of Perch happy hour!
We did the Tiko Tiko around the island tour this year and it's a very long day. We prefer the Tintamarre trip.
We're staying at Club O.

We attempted to get into Club O but there was no availability. We are not sure if it is booked solid or if it was because we are only going to be the island for 6 nights and if there was a minimum rental period. Not knowing the lay of the land, our research showed that La Playa had a good location. Perhaps we will love it or perhaps it will be a good learning experiece. Either way we will make the most of it. We exercise daily and the walk to Club O will just be part of our St Martin regime. Besides we have to wear off the drinks somehow...lol.
Thank you for the advise on the Around the Island tour, the Tintamarre trip may be the better option for us as well, a small diversion, a bit of an adventure and then back to the beach.

We really appreciate all the tips and advise.

Cheers

I have to agree with my buddy Christa. Those six days will fly by, I would just relax and enjoy the magic of Club O and let the sand gravity take over.
Don't forget you can bring a cooler down to OB. We usually bring beers and some wine for the day and hit the Perch at HH for frozen drinks. Bikini Beach Bar has HH after 4 so you can head back Dow to the village apr´┐¢s beach. Our favorite restaurant in the village is Cote Paige. We ate there 4 out of 6 nights on our last visit.
Thank you OBXDay for the great tips. HH at the Perch, HH at Bikini on the way home...perhaps enough happy and we won't be able to walk home! lol
Cote Paige - 4 out of 6 nights - we will be sure to check it out - must be delicious. There are so many restaurants. Makes one think that one should lose 5 or 6 lbs below normal weight before we go!
