Obeach
Alamanda

I am trying to book a trip to Obeach and want to stay again at the Alamanda, but the agency that I usually book through does not list the Alamanda as an option, as do none of the other agencies such as Travelocity and Expedia. Does any one know what is going on?

Thanks
Obeach

They were working on Alamanda earlier in the year. Don't know if they stopped, but there is a US number you can call. I think you can just google St martin reservation center--i might be mistaken but I thought they handled reservations for Alamanda and Palm Court.

When we were there during 1st week of June we stayed in a rental unit around the corner from the Alamanda and there was no work being done during that week and it appeared that it may not be opened at all.

That is odd. When we were there in June of last year, it appeared to be ready to open. We couldn't tell there had been much damage from Irma.

I was surprised too because I had read a few posts about the resort and thought I would see it looking good. After we turned out of the village and then made that 1st left toward the entrance to the condos we would pass the Alamanda on our left side. The first floor looked like items had been there for a while, mostly debris and lumber. There was also 2 or 3 derelict and wrecked cars that obviously had been there for a long time. We didn't see any work being done there whereas there was a building just across the street that had a lot of work going on. There was always workers there and one day we saw a crane lifting bundles of plywood up for the roofers. There was also a fence around the property. This was a blue 3 story residential looking building.

When we were there last June, The E was looking good. Don't know how many of the units were ready for occupancy, but the ones closest to the beach were ready to go. May have had people in them already.

We really like Esmeralda. They have about 17 separate 1-story "villas". Each villa contains four units and each unit has its own private covered porch. The best part is each villa has its own swimming pool about 10 feet from your porch. If you ask for a more secluded villa, you can use the pools nude if the occupants of the other units don't mind. We have stayed at Esmeralda about six times over the past 12 years. We spend most of the time nude at the pool and on the porch. Rarely are any of the other occupants at the villa during the day and if they are, none have objected to us being nude. Some of them were also nude. We haven't been back since the 2017 hurricane and I read that the vegetation around the villas was destroyed so they may not be as secluded as before.

I would say all of the vegetation was destroyed. From the beach we could see the Es. That hadn't been possible in the past. We walked up to the pool area, and it appeared the villas were all out in the open. It'll grow back fast, but still not much privacy for the next several years.
