Just wondering if anyone has been to Paya Bay in Roatan? It appears to be catering more to the naturist community, but interested in any firsthand reviews.

Thanks.

We went there about 6 or 7 years ago. I received an email from them recently and doesn't look like its changed much. It does cater to naturism most weeks. It's very remote so any excursion is an all day affair. The restaurant is unremarkable. World class snorkeling and scuba. The small beach is very secluded and nice and has a plunge pool. Great nature trails. The yoga pavillion has a great view of the sunrise. Family owners are very nice and if you need something they will pick it up on one of their runs into town. We have no plans to go back anytime soon, but it might be our failsafe should CO fail to recover and, god forbid, textiles take over the south end of the Orient.

We took a side trip to Paya Bay on our BNB cruise this past February. It seemed like a very nice place, beach was nice, the chairs wee comfortable and the restaurant was good. It seemed clean and well-kept. It's in the middle of no where, a long ride from the cruise port and getting there requires a long ride down a dirt road. We had looked into staying there after Irma hit SXM, but found that getting to Roatan was going to take more than a day of travel, so we bailed on that plan. Friends of ours have gone twice, so they must like it.

I understand beachgoerll, the travel to Roatan and the trip to the resort is the biggest factor in deciding if we'll go.

New to these forums but my wife and I spent 5 days there just about when the OP posted. It’s a very nice resort and we both loved it, overall. I would say that it’s naturist friendly but perhaps not frequented by naturists. There were two other couples there that were nude most or all of the time. While we were there, there we quite a few day visitors that seemed to arrive by car. They remained clothed completely throughout our stay. What that meant was that on days when it was only the three overnight couples, the CO Beach was indeed without clothes. But on days when there were several cars of days visitors, it was t so comfortable, especially for the wife, on the CO Beach and we went to the hammocks on the far side of the property. Even there most days there were lots of clothed people that would walk the paths. We have only one week of experience there and it was off season, so perhaps it’s different in January or February when it would presumably be busier. Overall, great place if you go knowing you might be one of the few who are without clothes.

Did it seem like it would be ok to walk the entire beach and the paths nude, even if there were a lot of clothed people around? I'm not one to let being the only one nude stop me, as long as it's permitted.

Thank you Sofla. Your review helps a lot. We still haven't booked a trip, but your experience brings up some concerns as we'd probably be going off season and my wife would not be comfortable if the majority of people on the beaches and paths were clothed. For her, being among a crowd of naturists helps her feel more at ease. The uncertainty might push us to consider some other options. Thanks again.
