Esmeralda Advice
March 15 2017 02:38

My husband and I are planning our trip to Orient Beach in July this year and plan to stay at the Esmeralda Resort. We're big fans of the beach, but also like the occasional pool day. I've read conflicting reports about the acceptance of going nude at the resort/villa pool, and I'm hoping to get some current feedback, opinions, experiences and recommendations. There are a few posts that suggest going nude at the pool is OK so long as you are respectful of your neighbors and ask if they mind. This is fine if we get accepting neighbors, but bad luck if we are sharing a pool with a family/kids. Some posts seem quick to dismiss the Esmeralda as a viable option to bare it all at the pool. We'd prefer to stay at the Esmeralda, rather than Club O. In July, are we more likely to find more families/kids at the resort or like minded couples like us? Does staying in a standard room or a suite impact our likelihood to get the pool environment we'd like?

Will be staying at the Es for a week in May and certainly hope to be nude at our pool. We specifically requested not to be in a building with children-- that has worked in the past. It does depend on the other guests, but in July you may have the building to yourself.

That's why we stay at CO. They may not have a pool but we don't have to ask permission to go nude. And, if there are children around they are just as nude as the rest of us. When we take a nude vacation the last thing we want to worry about is whether or not we can do what we came to do - GO NUDE all day, every day, everywhere on the resort.

In July you probably won't have a problem going nude at the pool. Everyone who used to go to Esmeralda during July will now be at CO. We will be able to swim nude at the beach, bring our own food and drink to the beach and not worry if any families with children will object to us being nude!

I rented a secluded villa for this very reason. Although I would enjoy company, being by myself won't be all that bad, either. For what it's worth, I'll be there the last week of April, in case someone wants a nude dip in the pool or a calm quiet nude evening at the pool. Message me, if interested?

We love the Es and have been staying there once or twice a year for 16 years. You won't regret staying there either. We've rarely had a problem using the pool nude. Admittedly you sometime have to use discretion and be respectful to your neighbors, but after a full day at the beach it's not a big deal (for us anyway). You're going during low season so don't be surprised if you're alone in your villa. 51 and 52 are our favorites. We like the easy access to the village and L'Astrolabe is one of the best restaurants on the island.

as folks have mentioned, in july we have never had a problem using the pool nude. in fact, we often were the only ones in the section. also true, as mentioned, is that after a long day at the nude section by CO or the small cordoned off section by the es beach, we didn't use the pool much after that. i for one feel chilled using it at night, nude or otherwise, so didn't do much dipping once the sun went down. but in all our times at es, i have never used the pool with a suit on. for reference, we usually go in late june or early july.
