September?
February 17 2017 21:09

I've read a lot of the forums and I don't see too many posts about September. My wife and I have been to SXM on cruise ships but we have decided to book a week near Pelican Key September 9th through the 16th. We are celebrating our 39th anniversary that week and was wondering if anyone can give insight about that time of year. We never explored beyond Pedro's but I think this time, since we'll be there a whole week, we will spend time by Club O even though we are newbies to the idea. Don't know if my wife will be able to go au natural but she wants to check it out. Hoping that this time of the year won't disappoint us since it's such a big celebration.

Sorry, but Club Orient is closed most, if not all of, Sept.

That figures. So is it safe to assume the beach is available but no services such as chair rentals and restaurants?

I think all of the resort is closed and the employees given time off for vacation. Don't know for sure as we would never go in September, even when it was open. August and September are at the peak of the hurricane season. Best to avoid the islands during those months. We have been caught before and friends spent two days of vacation time in the Atlanta airport before giving up and returning home. Cruise ships are more flexible and can usually find an alternate route around the storms.

Coco used to have a nude section in front of her restaurant, but don't know if she still does. She is at the opposite end of the beach from Cub O just south of the big rocks in front of Esmeralda.

Yes, the beach is available as it is a public beach, but I imagine the employees are not manning the chairs and the umbrellas. Don't know for sure, though.

Thank you for the update. As a resident of Florida I am, unfortunately, familiar with hurricane season. I'll be sure to check forecast around that time. It's really more for the reason of the trip than anything else. If the weather cooperates and the beach is less crowded it may be a benefit for my wife to feel comfortable being nude on a beach. If that's the outcome then I am hoping we can plan a vacation at a different time of year.

Come on people. deputydog is looking for help. Don't respond if you don't know the answer to his questions. The beach at Club O is always open and yes, they will be collecting for chairs and helping you set up umbrellas. They do not charge for parking in September. The resort is usually closed in that you cannot stay in a unit during the month and Papagayo will probably be closed. We think it is the best month to visit SXM and the Club O beach because it is far less crowded. It is the perfect time for your wife to acclimate. Have a Happy Anniversary!

We have been going in September for many years and never had a problem. Most trips the Perch was always open and the chair guys are there. There are plenty of nearby restaurants that are open on Orient Beach. This years trip starts sept 24 and ends Oct 6. Looking forward to another great trip.

Thanks for all of the input. I feel better knowing that the chair rentals and places to get libations will be available. We will definitely check it out. Thanks for the info about parking too. Any info would be greatly appreciated because this will be our first time spending more than 8 hours on the island.
