Noticed them on the last trip

We had a recent post that indicated they were still there, mostly around Papagayo and maybe the office/store area. Those buildings were damaged but still standing.

Doesn’t sound like much has changed in the last five years. Pretty run down area on such a beautiful beach. They were certainly friendly fellows.

I'm sorry to see this thread being taken over by the guys begging for Christa's pictures. Both of these threads were supposed to be good information for travelers to know what to expect at Orient Beach. For someone who had not been there for 10 years, I wanted to get the scoop on how free we as a couple can be and feel comfortable that others will bed joining in to more risqué bathing suit styles.
Actually, as I said before, Trip Advisor has become a better source of reality about the scene/ambiance on Orient Beach than this Forum.
My recommendation is this site should take up the cause to encourage more adventuresome sunbathing away from the nude beach, including topless & thongs for women and short bathing trunks for men. The rest of Orient Beach needs to get out of the covered up rut and encourage even the cruise ship gawkers to participate in swimwear freedom. Every couple who goes to the nude beach should also spend time in skimpy swimwear and topless on the beach away from the nude beach. Not just for walks, but at the beach clubs as well.

I have been following the post as I will be there in Sept for 14 days. While I am comfortable with being nude I am not a fan of the cruise ship passengers who are at the beach strictly to take pics and gawk at everyone. I am not surprised that that behavior has been prevalent because I happen to be on a cruise once and the cruise director in his cruise stop info on the island was making fun of the nudists to garner “oos” and “ahs” for entertainment of the passengers. While we might be doing the same of them being clothed on a nude beach, they outnumber us with the capacity of the large ships and god forbid two ships in at the same time. Let’s not be fooled , while some may say “oh this is really cool and decide to be part of the nudist lifestyle, most won’t. My question is how do we regain the proverbial “upper hand” if we don’t adopt Christa’s approach ??
