Swimsuits
We are interested in visiting OB again. visited the island before Irma and found risque swimsuits were tolerated at the textile side of the beach for both men and women. Is this still the case? are we gonna get in trouble if we are in some risque suits at the textile side or we'd better stay at the C/O side? Thanks!

I have a white string bottom that is transparent when wet. Occasionally, I have been brave enough to wear it wet on the textile side when it wasn't busy, such as early in the morning. It covers not much of anything when dry. When wet, even though the crotch panel is transparent, it appears to a Gendarme that my girl bits are covered. In a way, I guess they are.

Went back and found the images I attached to the thread where I made the trip report in 2018.
Can't believe I walked through the Village (to and from our apartment) wearing that short of a pareo. It is just as bad in the front. I did wear a T shirt to cover my top part, so I had some semblance of modesty.
In this picture, I am standing in front of Waterfront Chalet #52. That's where we stayed in 2017, a few months before Irma hit. We have stayed in all of the Waterfront Chalets except #50, which was taken out of the rental program because of a dispute the owners had with management.
I just noticed that the pareo is not only short, but it is transparent as well. I used to wonder why the workmen stopped work in the Village and watched as we walked by. Won't be wearing that pareo to and from the beach through the Village anymore.

I knew the white pareo was short, so I wore the yellow one about 1/2 the time. That one protects my bottom part modesty as long as the wind isn't blowing. But we know the wind is always blowing on Orient. I will see if I can find a picture of the wind blowing it up.
Come on, have some fun!
On the way toward Mt. Vernon, the wind blows it up so that my butt is bare for the trip. I don't much worry about pulling it down. Coming back the wind blows it up so that my femininity is constantly exposed. I remember one trip I would pull it down in the front. Wind would blow it up. I would pull it down. After about 20 minutes of tugging on the pareo, the knot gave way and no longer held the pareo together. I just took it off and did the rest of the walk naked. I figured if I saw a Gendarme at Pedro's I could quickly put it back on. This was about 9:30 or 10:00, and the beach was getting well populated.
The next morning we got an earlier start, and I considered doing the whole walk naked, but my husband said no, that I might get in trouble. So, I was a modest housewife for that walk. Actually, not very modest as I wore the yellow pareo again, and just didn't pull it down, but let it stay blown up the whole trip.
Found the yellow pareo pic. In this pic we are probably about 1/2 the way down the beach, probably at about the entrance to the Village. The wind is blowing from my left, and not directly toward me from the front, but you can see how much of me wasn't covered.
In none of those pictures on that trip am I holding my top. Surely I wouldn't have walked from our apartment, through the Village, to the beach topless? I may be brave, but I'm not that brave–at least I don't think I am.

Originally posted by bc9913 At the time you first posted the photos, I thought you said you walked to the beach topless. Some people walk the entire beach nude before 8:00 AM and I have not heard of any trouble.
I can't imagine that I would have walked from our apartment to the beach without a top. But I don't see one in any of the photos. I will have to go back and read the report to see what I said. If I said it, then that's what I did. It's been 3 years now, and I would trust what I said back then over my memory today.
Edit Note: Well now I know why I'm not holding my top in any of the photos: I didn't have one with me. Also know why the workman liked it when I stopped to talk with them, especially when I was wearing the white pareo–I was essentially naked and didn't even know it.
