Would you please post any updates on Club O?
Are you on the island and if so could you ask Cedric?
Do you know an owner who might update?
It might be a great ongoing thread and bring some current activity to this forum.
We are planning on May and we will do what we can.
carib cheers,

Looks like there is some encouraging news on the Club O website. The Club Orient Resort FB page posted this about an hour ago: https://www.facebook.com/ClubOrient/posts/3882765011770405
It directs you to the Club O website but you have to dig a bit for the info. It's in the FAQ section: https://www.cluborient.com/rebuild/
The timeline forecasts rebuilding starts in Fall 21 if the revised permit that was submitted last month is approved. It sounds like the architects/engineers are working closely with the buiding code agency to ensure they've addressed all of the issues raised. I was losing hope... this is welcomed news. Fingers crossed!!!

We'll be there in May.

I don't read that as Club O will definitely reopen. First permission has to be given by the government. Maybe I missed something but the government, after Irma, decided to forbid building at Club O and at Sandy Ground. Maybe that has changed.
Requests for permits have been submitted. We will see what happens, but remember, everything happens on Island time, mon.

That is great news. After all this time i don't think they would be so forthcoming with all this info if they didn't think it would be a go. My .02, your mileage may vary.
Christa, i think after all those protests awhile back, a representative from France came to the island and they revised the PPRN, which made it more friendly for rebuilding in these storm damage prone zones. Time will tell. Island time that is!

Originally posted by bc9913 Somewhere in the FAQ is says they will be allowed to rebuild any building that was there before the hurricane, with some moved back from the beach. That would be the Waterfront Chalets. They were right on the beach. They were our favorite, and in 15 years, they are the only ones we stayed in. We have fond memories there and stayed in all of them except #50,* and stayed in some of them twice.
It's not final until the permits are issued, but it looks like they do have government permission.

If Club O is rebuilt, we may go back again. I have to stay out of the sun because of three bouts with skin cancer, but there are other things to do.

* We actually may have stayed in #50 early in our visits there, but in later years, the owners had a falling out with management and took it off the rental rotation. They all kind of run together after that many years.
