Private Messages

Since the changeover I have not gotten along with my Private Messages, but now a new and potentially fatal problem has arisen. My mailbox limit is 50. As I approach this number, I periodically delete items from my Inbox.

The message I receive is paraphrased thusly: "You have 40 messages in your mailbox. Your mailbox limit is 50. Please delete messages from your Inbox or your Sent messages folder." Well, I would love to delete messages from my Sent message box. The problem? I can't find it. Eventually, I will have no messages in my Inbox, but 50 messages in my Sent messages box, and my mailbox will be frozen.

Can anyone give a bit of guidance as to how I should access the elusive Sent items box?

CEDRICK

In your private messages mailbox there are a series of icons on the top. If you click the one that is an "up" arrow, that takes you to your sent messages. Click the boxes to the right for the ones you want to delete then hit the trash can. Hope this helps. J

Thanks, but I have tried that. All I get when I click the up arrow is the word, "Inbox."

I'll go back and try it again. Maybe it has changed since yesterday when I tried it last.

EDIT NOTE: What I have is a "Down" Arrow, not an up arrow. My mailbox may be faulty.

Perhaps you are right with the faulty mailbox. Mine has a down arrow, up arrow, envelope, trash, settings, and search buttons.
Mine has all of that except for the Up arrow.

Christa,

My view is the same as yours on both an iPad and iPhone. I wonder if that may be your issue also. My PC is packed away since we're remodeling our house, so I'm not able to see what that view may be.

I am on a MacBook Air. Later today I will see what it looks like on a different system.

Thanks for the tip.

I have a windows based computer and I am able to see all of the icons. The common thread for thesimpsons and Christa seem to be apple based products. I am wondering if there's something screwy based on the ios operating system?

Exactly. Not all programs are written to accommodate the iOS platform.

Just not my day. On my Windows based PC I tried logging in and got the below message.

"Controller: Account
Action: Login
Exception: The provided anti-forgery token was meant for user "", but the current user is "Christa"."

Then I got another message saying the connection wasn't secure, and I couldn't proceed. Maybe tomorrow will be a different day.

Seems like more of a browser issue than the OS. Can you try a different browser?
I tried Firefox with the same result. Thanks for the tip, though.

I am using chrome on a windows based PC and I can see all the icons. Don't know if that makes a difference.
I have tried two different operating systems, Mac and a Windows on two different browsers, Safari and Firefox. Still no luck.

There isn't a Send box like there is in an email account. The Send messages are just mixed in with the incoming messages. I think the programmer should have used the words "Message Box" rather than the words "Send Box" to avoid confusion when he wrote the error message.

I went in and deleted one message and it worked. I then went in and successfully deleted all my messages without any hiccup. I'm presently using a 12 year old, Linux Mint notebook with a Chromium browser.

I have changed the private message limit from 50 to 500 messages for those who'd like to keep a history of their messages. We have miles of disk space, so fire away with messages and pictures!

Cheers

My Sent messages are not mixed in with my received messages (Inbox)). The only messages I have in my Inbox are messages I have received from others. At he top of the page I only have one arrow (down) and most members seem to have two arrows (up and down). So, there is no way for me to access my sent messages to delete them. But with a limit of 500 messages, it should be several years before I run out of mailbox space. Unfortunately my mailbox limit still shows as 50.

Thanks for looking into this.
