New web

This new format is difficult to understand how to use it so no one is posting on it.

I think it is like any new format. It is difficult to follow at first, but once one gets the hang of it, it flows pretty simply. Keep on working with it; you will figure it out.

I would have preferred a ProBoards format, but we got something else. It will all be familiar once all the bugs are worked out.

The main problem to update the forum was to connect the new forum to the old database. Or import all the data into the new forums database - all very tricky.

It would be easy to just start a new forum, like Proboards and ask everyone to sign up again but we'd then lose all the posts dating back to 2006. I didn't want to do that, although I admit, I came very to close to it. I attempted importing the old forum into two other boards (BBPress and SMB) but failed at both after numerous attempts.

The import of the data into this forum was relatively simple compared to other attempts I'd made with BBPress and SMB. Setting it up took about 3 weeks. Much of the work was done by Huw Reddick who wrote the code. I can't thank him enough for all the help. For those interested in what was involved. https://www.reddick.co.uk/Mvc/Topic/Posts/2472?pagenum=1&archived=0

There's still more to do, like the avatars and getting the old gallery up and running again. It's not your normal office this forum comes from, Mike is in the U.S.A, Huw is in the UK and I'm down here in Australia. Baresmile with us, we'll get there.

Uh oh, there you go again with your subliminal message to Christa to "BARE" with us. Yes I know, I'm a naughty boy and I need to be punished! lol!!!!
The way you did it was the best way. I would hate to lose our history.
