We usually do our walks down to Mt. Vernon and back about 9:00 or so. As I don't want to get in trouble in a foreign country, I go topless with a transparent WW string on the bottom. Covers almost nothing, especially when wet, but it makes me legal. The male American tourists seem to like the look. Their wives? Not so much.

Christa, we head out around 7ish to Mt Vernon and back. I do wear some thin shorts, and the wife is topless and wears a thin sarong pareo wrap on bottom. We have never seen a gendarme on any walk. We go early while the sun is still rising and get back to the Boutique before the croissants are gone! :)

I wore a pareo once. On the way down it was OK, or maybe I didn't notice the wind was blowing it up over my butt. On the way back the wind kept blowing it up exposing all of my girl bits. I kept tugging it down, and the wind kept blowing it up. With all of that tugging the knot finally came loose and I just took it off. We were still about 500 yards from Club O Beach. It was about 10:00 and a lot of people were out. Fortunately the gendarmes were still having breakfast or doing whatever they do.

We have seen the gendarmes once or twice at Pedro's parking lot. It was after 9:00 and I was probably wearing a string. They paid no attention to us.

It sounds like tugging it down was a losing battle, probably best to not try. :)

We all have nothing to hide, that's why we all enjoying the freedom of going to Club O anyway My wife had the same type of problem, on her many walks down the beach with just a tiny wrap on. But unfortunately those days are long gone. BTW I think your avatar is awesome.

The avatar should be mentioned in the past tense as it has disappeared, along with most of the others. The picture is still up in my profile, so I could easily recreate it if the board would cooperate, but the link is not working.

Christa, the wife didn't have too much problem with the pareo, just an occasional flit from a gust. Maybe you could use that as an excuse for the gendarme's. The wind took it off, not me!....... Men are bad......And some women. LOL
