Our Club O

We were in St. Maarten on Feb 8-17

We arrived and went thru customs there very easy. It was in a tent but it actually went very fast.

went to Club O and found it very difficult to take in. It looks like a third world country. Everything is just gone or ruined. It will take a few years before its back and open again. The beach was large but it was very dirty the week we were there. There was a palm tree that had been throw to the beach. The chairs looked very worn and paint was missing from a lot of them. We have been going to Club O for 11 years and met a whole lot of people (friends) and we ran into just one couple that use to stay there. There were natives (regulars) that we saw that are there every year but did not talk to them. For the people who come for Valentines day week we saw the really tan regular french man laying in the sun. As dark as ever from the sun.

Overall the french side is in much need of repair if you compare it to the dutch side. They seem to be very productive in cleaning up and their gov. is with them where the french side is a lot slower. We found a great little bar that had american tv called the American Tennis club. They serve a great breakfast till noon. It's clean and open.

We were very shell shocked at the site of things but we felt like we had to go and check it out. We had a great time over all.

Nice to hear you had a great time over all. We're heading back for Christmas. I'm hoping they'll have a lot more repairs completed by then. I'm sure we'll have a wonderful time at the beach regardless.
