Club O

Does anyone have news of Club O?
I hope everyone is safe. Would love to know what we can do to help. If it is a rebuild then I would think those who love the Club would book now to get a revenue stream going and or prepay our stay.
Let's hope everyone at the club and all employees (friends ) are safe.

On the Island now and there isn’t any apparent progress at Club O. (Understandably)
The beach was full today with two rows of chairs. Cedric is using every chair and umbrella at his disposal and some of those are a bit damaged. Beach ball races started today with rum shots for winners, losers, and participants.
This is the first time we have stayed on the Dutch side in 30 years but Divi Little Bay accepted an RCI exchange. We have fantastic waterfront accommodations.
carib cheers from SXM.

Awesome! Thanks for the update Doctorj. We'll be there in 45 days. I bought a dozen beach balls--hopefully I'll be able to get some races started. I've always thought it is such a fun idea. smile
Good to hear from you Dr. J. I was afraid you had gotten lost in the forum switchover. Traffic has dropped off since the change. Evidently several of the old timers have gotten lost.

Beach had a great turnout again today. We enjoyed a very good lunch at Bikini. Two ships in today but the cruisers mostly do not walk the beach toward Club O because there is nothing between Bikini and The Perch. Beach Ball racing was again very active and another bottle of rum met it’s demise. Just as a caution there is isolated debis on the ocean floor. I retrieved one piece of tile that was a little jagged. I saw nothing else but down by the Papagayo end there is some concrete in the water, Willie stopped by the Perch today and we will all miss her behind the bar. She has decided to retire from the Club O family. Patou is so gracious and working hard at The Perch to welcome friends back.
Sxm is coming back so please come to help it’s recovery and support our friends here.
carib cheers,

Not good news about Willie. She has been a long time fixture at the Perch. Great Bloody Marys and Screwdrivers, which is what we mostly got.

We will miss Willie, but wish her well. Her "retirement fund" jar will certainly help. I loved her HH explanations - one means two, two means four, etc.

On a positive note, Petit Casino reopened on Oct 29. It looks great and the wine section is expanded.
Thanks for the updates doctorj. We will be returning in April and will badly miss Willy, as she was the face of the Perch. I hope she is enjoying what ever she is doing!
Christa, my wife claimed Willy's bloody marys as the best she has ever had, but the atmosphere didn't hurt either! We hear great reports on the Simpson Bay Yacht Clubs Bloodys, so that's on the must try list.

Yes, Willy mixed em like she meant it. The ones we got in June were waay too weak. Next year we will bring our own vodka to supplement.

Kenny manned the bar yesterday. Crazy beach Ball races an another bottle of coconut rum hits it’s demise. Last night it rained like a hurricane for hours. Our cab who dropped us off at Pelican Pete’s wouldn’t come back out because the streets were flooded. I don’t blame him. Boulders in the roads, cars off the roads, sheets of rain. It reminded us of Hurricane Omar without the wind. It is beautiful this morning.

I didn't know Kenny was part of that operation. That's awesome! I saw the weather on the Maho Beach cam. It looked pretty nasty! Keep the balls racing and the rum flowing! Sounds like fun!

Kenny wasn't a part of the operation when we were there in June.

Do you have a link for the Maho Beach cam?

Yeah, i haven't heard Kenny's name mentioned as working the Perch Lite until now. Glad he could be a part of it again!
https://www.mahobeachcam.com/ It was called the beach cam because it used to be located at the Sunset Beach Bar, until the new owners kicked them out. Its now located at AAA car rental near the runway. http://www.sxmislandcam.com/ another great cam.

Thanks.

You can also see the sunset beach bar, the beach and the approach end of the runway at http://sunsetsxm.com/plane-info/ to see how busy the beach is.
