Cigars

Are there beaches where I can light up a nice cigar? I wouldn't do it in tight quarters, so wondering if any one knows?

I have smoked cigars on Orient Beach by Club Orient. Haven't had a problem.
My husband has smoked cigars upon occasion on Orient. Just be sure that you're not close to anyone and the wind is not blowing it in anyone area. I'm the only person who's complained. LOL.
For some great cigars go see Gary Jessani @ SXM Cigars in Maho and Andi Siegers of DAS cigars. Andi makes them and will find you @ Club O if you want them. Both nice guys.
Have fun!

My husband says DAS is a decent cigar. It is available at the Club O store (Orientique). They aren't always replenished in all of the ring gauges, though. His favorite gauge was sold out for six of the nine days we were there last year, even though the store called DAS and let them know of the problem. He found another source for good cigars--not DAS, and all was well.
Please be mindful of where your smoke is going. We've been downwind of cigar smoke and my wife had to get up and leave because she's super sensitive to it and it makes her feel ill.

Indeed, just because I enjoy cigars, Wouldn't want anyone else inhaling my smoke, that's why I asked. Thanks for the info, I'll check out SXM Cigars.

Is the Club O store clothing optional in Club O?
I haven't personally been in the Boutique store yet, but i believe the entire property is clothing optional. I have also seen promotional pics in the store, sans textiles!

Life's a beach!
Quote from Club O site. "Our resort is 100% clothing optional. Guests are free to shop, sunbathe, dine, etc. clothing-free"

I have been naked in Orientique more times than I can count. The only ones wearing clothes are the employees who will check you out. As SXMBeacher has noted, the entire resort is clothing optional. Almost all exercise the option and go without. Enjoy.
I have shopped a number of times in Orientique bringing only my shopping bag. As others have said, the whole resort is clothing optional.
I don't recommend the cigars at Club O boutique. They don't maintain the humidity in the case. In desperation I bought a Cuban there and it was horrid. Hard as a rock.. Do yourself a favor and pick some up at Cigar Emporium in Philipsburg or bring your own!

Thanks, Popeye!!

Are there customs to go through, if I bring my own??
Yes, SXM has customs, but it's laughable compared to USA. Besides, they don't care about cigars. They'll ask you a couple questions about money, fruit, and stuff that might matter. You can bring all you need without issue and now you can even bring some Cubans back with you!

Enjoy!

P.S. They WILL ask when you enter US on return..

Yes, DAS is responsible for restocking cigars and recharging the humidifier in the humidor. As with most things in the Caribbean, maintenance is irregular. He says he has had good luck with humidity in the 5 or 6 cigars he has bought there over the years. There is a shop on the left, going toward Grand Case ,that has some nice cigars. That is where he usually gets his.
I just got back and had two DAS cigars while at CO, both were bought at the boutique and both were very good cigars! Smoked both on our patio at CO. I bought a cuban down in Philipsburg and it was disappointing.
