Happy Bay

Hi all. We stopped going to Happy Bay a few years back due to reports of robberies along the trails. Planning our April visit, and we'd like to try again. Is the trail from Friar's Bay still as difficult and has Dany started renting umbrellas? We love Cupecoy and Baie Rouge on the west end for the naturist couples vibe. We remember Happy Bay being mostly couples and unfortunately the one or two "bushwhackers". Have there been any concerns about these issues lately? We are not sure if we should go back. Love to hear from others about recent trips to Happy Bay. Thanks everyone.

My wife and I have been going to this beach 2 or 3 times each visit for 12 years and never had a problem. Once in a while bushwackers are around but if you go to the left of the beach where the hill is above you they usually don't come around that area. Like all places, I keep a lookout for my surroundings when walking a place like this. Danny still doesn't have umbrellas but still has chairs. We bring our umbrellas with us. If you come in off of the dirt road I believe it is called Ru de Friar's Bay, which is right before the two outside basketball basket ball courts turn left on that dirt road and you will come to a white fence that has a gate that is locked. Park your car there and you will see a trail thru the fence on the right side. That is where all the locals come thru and where Danny comes thru. It is flat ground and leads you straight to the beach. It has been our favorite beach along with Baie Rouge with a little more privacy. There are more of the jet ski excursions that go there now but only a few come on the beach but if you stay to the left, you are usually on the other side of them.
