Newbie

Hi
Visited last year ... loved the beach, freedom, nudity it was my first time.on a nude beach. Wife not so much , she did say she would try and go nude but wants a lot of privacy. Kind of a silly question but is there an area beyond the beach proper that she can go nude , swim etc....without a lot of people around ?
Thanks so much

The area with the fewest people would be between Papagayo and the water sports hut. Beyond that it is too rocky.

Thank you much appreciated
There's always the uninhabited island that's visible from Club orient. The watersports people will take you there for a reasonable fee, or you can rent a jet ski, sail board, etc. The side facing Club Orient has the calmest water and is far enough from the Club that it would be hard to tell what people over there are wearing or doing. The back side of the island would be even more private.
You could also go for a late night swim on the Club O beach.
We like to stay at Esmeralda Resort on Orient Beach. They have about 15 separate buildings, each with about 3 or 4 units and each building has its own private pool. We ask for a building with a secluded pool and swim nude at the pool. Since there are a maximum of 3 other couples at the building (if all are occupied) and most of the time people are at the beach or sightseeing, you usually have the pool to yourself. We have vacationed at Esmeralda about 5 times over the past 12 years. My wife won't go nude at the beach but will be nude on the porch and at the pool. The pools are only about 10 feet from your porch. If you see the other occupants of your building you should ask if they mind if you swim nude. No one has ever objected and they are hardly ever at the pool. On our last trip another couple did use the pool and were also nude. If your wife becomes comfortable being nude at the pool, she may then go nude on the beach.

We faced this situation 27 years ago when we first tried naturism so I can speak from experience. My wife was very hesitant about public nudity so we handled it slowly. Here are our suggestions: 1) Stay at Club Orient, it helps to spend your time around people living free, normal and nude. It will relax you about your own nudity. 2) Go in the summer when crowds are smaller and many families are there, spending time among the children will make nudity feel natural. 3) Go to the area near the water sports for the first nude experience, there are not many people there. 4) Make friends. This is the most important thing to do. If your wife has nudist lady friends she will quickly join the group and she will dress as they do - or should I say undress as they do. Lastly, whatever you do don't pressure her. Let her take her time, it won't take long. Once she tries it there is no going back. As I said we faced the same situation but we are now devoted naturists, and it didn't take long.
I just went thru this myself a couple of years ago! Jam77 is spot on. We had a private pool at our Villa, but the rest of his recommendations are perfect. Staying at Club O would be great, but if your wife was like mine she would say hell no....haha
Been there. I agree with staying close to Papaguyo as most of the tourist have turned around by then. Give Happy Bay a try if you are willing to do the hike. Go during the week as the weekends have a lot of locals. Happy bay is a great beach go early and get a good spot The day usually starts with a mix of nudists and clothed people buy the end of the day most are nude. The only tourists are the Rhino tours and your wife can cover up if she wants to as you can see them coming. Again most important let her go at her own pace.
Don't know where you live but if you are anywhere near Central Florida and you want to get used to being nekkid in public, your wife may like Playalinda near Titusville. Part of Canaveral National Seashore and there is plenty of room on weekdays to be somewhat private. A bit more crowded on weekends, but still not as busy as Orient Beach. If you really want to be away from others at Playalinda you can get a back country pass and hike, nude, along the beach for miles (too much for us but it is possible)

My wife was about same as yours. She said no at first and after a couple of days on textile beach she said OK let's try it. This will be are fourth year going back to CO. Best advice you have been given. Don't push her and it will all work out. We keep in contact year around with people we met first year. Great group of people at CO. 44 more days before we arrive and spending two weeks. Both of us are ready now!
If you want a secluded beach to be able to swim nude on SXM I recommend going over to Happy Bay. It is a very secluded beach, but it requires a 15 minute hike. The first time we went to SXM we had not been to a nude beach either. We tried both Orient Beach and Happy Bay and liked both. We do prefer Orient beach over Happy Bay, but if you want to try nude sunning and swimming with no one around try Happy Bay.
The secluded beach sounds so good and really seams to make sense for a newbie, BUT for us a busy nude beach where you feel uncomfortable and stared at for having on a swim suit is so much easier as a newbie. When we are at a secluded spot we feel paranoid, and nervous. At Club O, we feel invisible and totally at ease. Cheers to your new adventure!
While I agree that you don't want lots of gawking tourists around, secluded, deserted or even uncrowded is usually a bad thing. The issue is that if there is no one else other than you and your wife around and then someone else walks up.....it will instantly feel very, very uncomfortable. In contrast, if there are a lot of people around, most all nude, no one is paying attention to you or the wife. Crowds can be the best form of camouflage....."lost in the crowd"....works.
A lot of good advice has been given. But, it would be helpful to hear from some ladies about how they handled the "first time". The woman's point of view would probably be of the most use to "newbie". How do the ladies think the transition from clothed to natural should be handled?
Leaving for Sxm on Tuesday I will report back on our trip . Thanks for the advice
Go to the far end of Orient to the rocks to spend the day. You will not have many gawkers. If she is anything like my wife pretty soon you'll be wondering why she won't keep her clothes on.
