Orient Beach in July

Wife and I are planning a trip to Orient Beach next July for a week. We are not staying at Club Orient, we do plan to spend a lot of time on the nude beach in front of the resort.

My question is are there any significant drawbacks to being at Orient Beach in late July? I know it's the low season, but are restaurants or shops closed that time of year. Also, are the vendors that are often encountered on the textile side of the beach also on the nude beach?

This will be first time for us spending extended time on the island and stepping out of our comfort zone on the nude beach so I'm just looking for a little insight into what to expect.

Thanks.

We have been going to SXM since 2010. That was our first experience on a nude beach. We have now been to SXM 9 times and spent most of our time on the beach at Club O. We stayed at Club O for the first time this past June and ran into some of the wonderful people we meet on a prior trip and now are scheduling our future trips to meet up there every year. We are a couple in our early 40s and the couple we hang out with are in their 60s. Don't worry about the nudity it is such a natural thing on the beach at club o. The first time we went we walked all the way down to the end by Papagayo's for my wife comfort and she said "Are you really going to ole my goodness you already are", and now we go at least once a year. She started topless, but after about an hour she was nude. Now she is like when can we go back. By day three you will probably so comfortable there that you will be sitting close to the Perch to get a good spot for happy hour. We are going to be there June 28th to July 5 2017. Hope you find SXM and Club O as relaxing and enjoyable as we do.
Thanks Heather (and everyone else). It's going to be a long wait until July!

So, is Perch the bar closer to the line between the textile and nude sections of the beach (where the beach cam is located)? And what do they offer for happy hour?
The beach cam is on the roof of the Perch.
The Perch will be the beach bar as you first enter Club Orient. Happy Hour at the Perch is two drinks for the price of one.
Late June, early July means longer days and more beach time!
That's why we love being there during the summer months! The more beach therapy I can get the better! I could use some right now, but have to wait 9 long months. I just hope this site can keep me sane that long.
It will be a long wait for us too. I'm trying to use some of that time to learn as much about the Island and what to expect when we finally go, but I don't think that's making the time move any faster!
DevilMoc, will this be your first trip to the beautiful island of St. Martin?
Technically, no, as we've taken a few cruises that stopped at St. Martin. However, this will be our first stay beyond a couple hours and the first time we'll have to really enjoy the beach and explore the island.
DevilMoc, If you would like I can pm you a large description of great things to do on SXM. We have been so much now we tend to stay on Orient Beach, but if its your first time staying for a week or more you should do some exploring.
That would be great Heather. Thank you.
I know this is revisiting an old topic, but just want to say a quick thanks to everyone who shared ideas and tips. Wife and I are in the middle of our first trip here and having a great time. It was surprising how quickly we got comfortable on the beach. She likes to go and do some things on the Island in addition to being on the beach, so we have to balance our time a bit, otherwise I'd be on the beach all day every day.

We still have four days here and I'm already thinking about our next trip.
We just got home from a week on Orient Beach last week. Other than the seaweed, we had a great experience. We stayed at Esmeralda and were nude each day at Coco Beach, Club O and/or the pool at our villa. We visited Happy Bay with some new friends we met and had a great (nude) experience there as well. We can echo a lot of the comments about being comfortable nude on the beach after you get past the first hour or so. Eventually the gawkers become remarkably invisible. Disrobing when you first get to the beach will become like taking your coat off when you arrive at work on a cold day...No big deal
Seaweed has not been bad at all this week from what I've seen. A little on the textile side, but nothing at Club O.

We did hike out to Happy Bay yesterday, but it was an unplanned stop so we didn't stay long. I just wanted to see it. We may go back, not sure yet. Haven't yet been down to Coco Beach, we need to check out that side of the beach.

And I like your analogy with the coat. In fact, the worst part about the day is putting the clothes back on to walk back to our condo. I just got comfortable being nude really quick, and the fact that almost everyone else is too makes it much easier than in may be in other circumstances. My wife and I initially thought the gawkers would make us uncomfortable, but truly we could care less!

So glad you are having fun. We had a great time on the island over the 4th. Can't wait to get back. You may want to think about staying at Club O on your next trip, then you don't have to put your "coat" back on to go back to your room. I love that analogy. Perfect.
